Meet The Revive Team

Hi! We are Sarah and Marike, founders of Revive Custom Wellness Retreats.

The origins of Revive are in our own tradition of organizing retreat days for friends. Wanting to move away from the typical party of overindulgence and small talk, we incorporated our favorite self-care activities into day long self-care events. Our experiences in adult learning, yoga, nature education, Ayurveda, the arts, and other healing modalities, give us the unique ability to design a journey of transformation and rejuvenation.

We have been friends since we started teaching together in a local public high school in 2005. As co-coordinators of the interdisciplinary program, we lead forty teachers through a collaborative process to redesign the program based on equity, helping our peers be heard, supported, and allowed to thrive. We carried these skills forward by designing wellness days for our friends. We are both certified yoga teachers, educators, and Council facilitators. Today, we work together again and share our unique gifts with others, creating individualized wellness retreats.

Sarah

Sarah Crompton has been leading retreats, classes, celebrations, camps, and field trips for decades.  She considers herself to be a life-long learner and educator. Sarah has a Masters degree in Education from The Ohio State University; she is credentialed to teach both science and physical education/yoga with over 20 years of teaching experience.  She has led Councils since 2008, facilitating hundreds of circles.  Since 2018, Sarah has taught Yoga as a PE, she continues to teach science, and she also teaches an elective course called Science of Mindfulness.  Sarah has been practicing yoga since the 1990s, when she was influenced by the anatomy-awareness and use-of-props of Iyengar yoga, the moving-meditation flow of Ashtanga, and the loving-joy shared in Bhakti practices.  Sarah has since focused on making mindfulness practices accessible to a wide audience and she is additionally certified in Ayurvedic Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga, and Yoga for All.  Sarah’s goal in leading retreats is to inspire a safe and supportive community, to share her love of mindfulness practices, and to bring self-awareness, self-resilience, self-acceptance, self-regulation, and self-confidence to Revive Custom Wellness Retreats participants.

Marike

Marike Anderson is an artist, yoga teacher, and mom. She has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from UCLA and worked for many years as a high school teacher and assistant principal. When her husband passed away in 2021, she left her education career to focus on healing and turning her grief journey into art. She now teaches yoga, paints, and helps others navigate life’s challenges through movement, art, and community.

Her experiences of planning student and staff retreats for years, inspired Marike to plan a retreat day for friends as a way to share some of her favorite self-care activities. This day-long event ignited a tradition of seasonal retreats to ground, reflect, connect, and create with loved ones. With Revive Custom Retreats, Marike’s goal is to help new friends design their own mini retreats and share with their loved ones the transformative impact of moving, sharing and creating in community.

Let us get to know you.
